Liv Miraldi Composes a Time Capsule from a Year that Defined Her as an Artist on ‘2019’

Date:

Liv Miraldi is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter revitalizing the indie-pop scene with her poignant narratives that take you deep inside her story as an artist. Her freshly released EP entitled 2019 is a powerful, coming-of-age project that chronicles one of the hardest years in Miraldi’s life. Dealing with emotions that surface over unrequited love, loneliness, and heartbreak, 2019 is a collection that doesn’t shy away from Miraldi’s hardships.

2019 glimmers with slow-moving riffs that ripple like water, breathless harmonies, and visceral sonics that cultivate an atmosphere of dark nostalgia. Her opening track “Denver” tells a far too relatable tale of being young, in love, and faced with a decision to jump the gun and start a new life. Her third track “Teeth” takes on heartbreak from an internal angle and notes on Miraldi’s insecurities that have surfaced through her young adulthood. Her closing track “Unfinished Business” is a hauntingly catchy ballad about an unresolved relationship that sticks with her. All in all, 2019 is Miraldi’s way of making peace with her troubles and offering us revelatory glimpses inside the life of a burgeoning artist.

Revealing more on her project, Miraldi confides, “I wrote the songs I needed to hear when I was going through it. 2019 knocked the wind out of me and for a while I tried to forget about it. But the more I tried to tuck it away, the more it haunted me. I realized, in the last few years, if I were going to move forward, I had to write about it. I learned so much in those 365 days- particularly that there are so many ways to have your heart broken, sometimes it’s from a breakup, family, death, or even ourselves. 2019 is mine.”

Liv Miraldi is an incredibly gifted songwriter who has worked with artists among the likes of Tinashe, Mod Sun, Lauren Spencer Smith, Natalie Jane, Johnny Orlando, Charlotte Sands, GAYLE,  Arden Jones, VINCINT, and more. Where she truly shines on 2019 however, is on her own two feet as a vocalist.
