Saumit. explains unrequited love in new single “21”

Date:

Saumit. takes us back to a simpler time with “21”. The synthpop single is reminiscent of the electric soundscape that was the 2016 era of music. The song opens with a compelling growing beat that drives the rhythm and draws the listener closer. The smooth use of reverb gives a sense of euphoria as the track continues to grow with the beat of the drums and waves of synth. The instrumental arrangement complements the more intense build up as we near the end of the song in the last minute.

The song, while having this danceable beat, is overall more serene so that high energy climax just intensifies the emotions behind each lyric. The song lyrically focuses on unrequited love with lyrics that state “Feeling you slipping away from me / Tell me why / Don’t you feel it the same way.” There is a theme of disillusionment with love talking about being 21 and exploring these intricate emotions.

Saumit.’s song almost invites those who relate to the theme of the lyrics to dance away the anxieties around nuanced emotions surrounding love at a young age. The song demonstrates the ability to have depth and introspective themes within an electro/synth-driven song that has strong emotional resonance within its lyrics.
