Isabel LaRosa’s new single “Pretty Boy” captures the thrill and destruction of love

Date:

Alternative-pop singer Isabel LaRosa has returned with her latest single, “Pretty Boy,” released through Slumbo Labs/RCA Records.

Just five months after dropping her single “Favorite,” which has since climbed into the top 25 on Pop Radio and sparked over 6 million TikTok creations — with an impressive 43.5K daily average — LaRosa continues to make a name for herself on social media. Known for viral hits like “i’m yours” and “older,” LaRosa is carving out a niche in the music world by bending vulnerability and dark pop.

Now, in “Pretty Boy,” the 19-year-old singer delivers her signature sultry, airy pop sound. It’s intense and obsessive, and LaRosa is seemingly emotional about it. The track explores a deep, overwhelming feeling to a boy, with LaRosa expressing her infatuation (“I’m so obsessed, it’s not a choice / I’m melting when I hear your voice”). Sometimes love, or infatuation, rather, can be unhealthy. It grows all-consuming and petrifying sometimes. Her repeated plea is for this person to “be my pretty boy,” with “pretty boy” showcasing LaRosa’s desire for possession over the person she loves, even though she feels undoubtedly powerful in the face of her own feelings.

Love can be both exhilarating and destructive, which LaRosa comes to learn in “Pretty Boy,” which already garnered significant attention on TikTok, with over 24K creations and an average of 1.2K daily creations before its official release. As one of Spotify’s top rising artists this year, LaRosa’s latest single marks a captivating continuation of her journey into alt-pop, infused with a hint of darkness.

LaRosa is also set to embark on her Heaven Doesn’t Wait Tour across North America and Europe, beginning on Aug. 23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and wrapping up on Nov. 7 in Köln Bürgerhaus Stollwerck. With more than half of the tour dates already sold out, you can purchase the remaining tickets here before they’re gone.
