Annabel Gutherz contemplates her role as a performer and as a person on “Showtime, Baby!”

Date:

Technology has come a long way in the past few years, especially with social media. These days, it can be a struggle to represent who you are versus how you want the world to see you, as you have to decide which is more important. Do you live your truth or do you live by the standards of others? This is an idea that Annabel Gutherz explores in her new single “Showtime, Baby!” where she opens up about the pressure to meet outside expectations without forfeiting her own values.

A glistening pop-rock single, “Showtime, Baby!” conjures the drama of constantly putting on a performance. Among the grooves, guitar strums, and slinky riffs, Annabel contemplates her role as a performer and as a person. With rich vocals, she asks, “Do I live for you? / Do I live for me?” and sings, “All that I am is all you don’t see / But life’s a stage and it’s showtime, baby!” In the end, she knows that trying to meet the needs of others is not realistic. You can check it out below.

Telling us more about “Showtime, Baby!” Annabel shares,

“If life is a stage, am I always performing? This is a central question on ‘Showtime, Baby!’ where I explore the tension between living authentically for myself and living to meet others’ expectations. It addresses the fray of seeking approval and belonging while striving to be truly seen and understood for who I am. Ultimately, I’ve learned that prioritizing my own feelings and experiences is essential, as it’s the only way to lead my every day with purpose and meaning and foster deep happiness.”

You can listen to “Showtime, Baby!” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
