Date:

Dean Lewis is known for his vulnerable storytelling, allowing him to show his authentic self to the world. Because of this, his career has skyrocketed to new heights, selling over 6.8 million albums and EPs worldwide and amassing over 14 billion streams of his music. For his latest release, he teamed up with Sasha Alex Sloan to create “Rest” which highlights a strong, loving partnership.

“Rest” is about finding who you want to spend the rest of your life with. Through reflective acoustic guitar and emotional lyrics, Dean Lewis and Sasha Alex Sloan express their desire to experience all of life with their partners. The chorus sings, “That I want you, or I want nothing at all / I wanna be there to catch all your tears as they fall / And I wanna hold you while you go to sleep / And when I wake up, you’re the first thing I need / I want you tonight / And for the rest of my life,” showing their want to always stand by their partners, no matter what life throws at them.

Sharing more about the writing process behind “Rest,” Sasha Alex Sloan comments:

“I’ve been a fan of Dean’s for a while so when I found out we were writing together I was a little nervous but the second I walked in the room all my nerves went away. We clicked instantly. This song is the first song we ever wrote together, and I think we stumbled onto some magic that day… so excited for the world to hear it”.
