British indie rock band Delta Sleep have announced their upcoming LP, Blue Garden, scheduled to be released on Oct. 11 through Sofa Boy Records in partnership with Wax Bodega.
The math rock and indie rock group, known for their introspective lyrics and unique sound, is currently fronted by Devin Yüceil (guitar, lead vocals), Glen Hodgson (guitar), Dave Jackson (bass) and Blake Mostyn (drums).
Their new single, “Figure In The Dark,” which is loosely based on the fantasy film, The NeverEnding Story (1984), is out now. “It is also about finding your place in a world where people live in silence, and are afraid to speak out for what is right,” says frontman Yüceil.
Blue Garden was recorded at Daft Studios in Belgium with producer Mark Roberts, known for his work with the Black Peaks, Toska and the Physics House Band, and marks a departure from previous quick studio sessions. Instead, the album features new instrumentation, electronic samples and synths, while the lyrics center around despair and resilience amidst the ongoing Israel-Palestine War.
In a press release statement, frontman Yüceil shared details about the forthcoming album:
“The polarity between shadows and light play a big part in the themes for this album, both in the lyrics and the music. Musically speaking this feels like our heaviest / darkest album to date, but in other instances it could be our most melodic, light and poppy album. Lyrically the album is very introspective, processing the heaviness and pressures of the world. A mood that is heavily influenced by the ongoing brutal, and seemingly never ending slaughter of the Palestinian people by Israeli forces — casting a shadow of depression, terror and helplessness over the world of today.”
The album comes three years after the release of their fourth studio album, Spring Island (2021). It will come in various vinyl variants: Vinyl Variants:
Blue Garden will be available in various vinyl variants, including 300 copies in Purple with a black color-in-color design, exclusive to the Wax Bodega webstore, 1,200 copies in a Purple cloudy effect, available as the general US variant, 200 copies in Mint green, cream and neon purple stripes, exclusive to Delta Sleep’s Patreon members, 1,000 copies in Clear with Purple splatter, available as the general UK/EU variant and 300 copies in Red, Green and Cream three-color segments, exclusive to Delta Sleep’s UK/EU webstore.
