Tessa Dalton is a singer-songwriter from rural Idaho hoping to make her mark in Nashville while studying commercial music at Belmont University. As a multi-instrumentalist, she has had many opportunities to showcase her talents to the world through fiddle and songwriting competitions, teaching music lessons, performing in school bands and ensembles, playing at live shows and festivals across the country, and now releasing her own music. Her latest song, “You See Me”, is about her journey of finding love.
“You See Me” is about searching for love in the wrong places, only to find it next to you the whole time. Through heavy piano and light vocals, Tessa Dalton finds the person who was truly right for her all along. Lyrics such as “And I’m blocking out the memory / Five seconds after they leave / And then I’m calling you / To tell you everything / Cause you see me / And they don’t” show this realization that the person she works best with has always been around, even if she didn’t notice it until now.
Sharing more about “You See Me”, Tessa Dalton comments:
“‘You See Me,’ is a heartfelt piano ballad that I wrote after a bad date with a “great guy.” I had gone out with a lot of “great guys” but they didn’t seem to see me for who I am. After one particularly long date, I called my “just a friend” to tell him about it. That’s when I realized that my “just a friend” was the one who really saw me for me. This song was selected as a semifinalist in the 2023 International Songwriting Competition, but is just being released for the first time this month. I think this one is perfect for playlists featuring singer-songwriters and soft pop ballads.”
