As I Lay Dying brings a Night of Metal Mayhem to Atlanta

As I Lay Dying’s U.S. Summer 2024 tour rocked the Atlanta Underground at the Masquerade Heaven stage on July 30th. As I Lay Dying was joined by the ever heavy Entheos and metal mainstay Chelsea Grin. The evening was loud and thunderous from start to finish!

Entheos hit the stage first with a fusion of progressive metal and technical death metal that created an intense and captivating atmosphere as the harrowing screams mixed with the dark red stage show. Lead vocalist Chaney Crabb’s powerful and dynamic range kept the crowd engaged from start to finish, blending intrically with Navene Koperweis’ drumming and the intricate guitar work and thunderous basslines adding depth to their performance, making each song a cacophony brutal metal. The energy in the venue was intense, with fans headbanging and moshing to the relentless beats, and fan after fan crowd surfing over the barricade. Entheos not only delivered a stellar musical performance but set the room ablaze for the acts to come.

Chelsea Grin took to the stage nest with an exhilarating showcase of sheer brutality. Chelsea Grin’s signature blend of deathcore and metalcore had the crowd in a frenzy from the moment they hit the stage. Tom Barber’s guttural vocals and intense stage presence commanded the attention of everyone in the venue, while the dual guitar assault by Stephen Rutishauser and David Flinn delivered crushing riffs and blistering solos. The Utah based powerhouse created a ferocious soundscape that shook the venue. The energy in the crowd was infectious, with mosh pits erupting and fans screaming along to every lyric. Chelsea Grin’s performance left fans exhilarated and eagerly awaiting their next opportunity to witness the chaos again.

As I Lay Dying closed out the night with powerhouse performance of metalcore intensity that rallied the crowd from the first riff, with crowd surfers hitting the front within the first minute of the performance. From the opening notes, the band conquered the stage with a ferocity that had the audience in a state of perpetual adrenaline. Tim Lambesis’ raw and emotive vocals were beast like, matching his stature. The entire band came together to assault the airwaves with a nonstop relenting force The setlist was a perfect mix of new hits and fan-favorite classics, and even inviting Entheos’s lead singer Chaney Crabb onstage for a duet on Redefined. The energy in the venue was chaotic, with fans moshing, headbanging, and crowd surfing throughout the whole set, at times there was even a crowd surfer with crutches held high in the air crowd surfing over the top, displaying the sense of community has created. As I Lay Dying’s performance was a testament to their enduring legacy and their ability to captivate and energize an audience, making it an unforgettable night for all in attendance.

As I Lay Dying’s U.S. Summer tour was mayhem in the most fantastic way possible. Visceral screams, rowdy mosh pits, and intense metal created a night to remember. If the tour comes to your town and you love raw, passionate metal music, this is the tour for you!
