Anna Duboc stands for herself in beautifully reflective track “Indigo”

Date:

17-year-old Anna Duboc is taking the music industry by storm. Since dropping her first single at age 13 in 2019, Duboc has amassed audiences of over 248,500 followers on TikTok, 41,000 subscribers on YouTube, and 35,000 followers on Instagram. Her total streams across all platforms are over 45 million.

With such a large following, Duboc makes it a priority to recognize the people behind the numbers. Through her music, she hopes to provide inspiration and meaningful connection for those who need it as they go through life. Duboc added:

“If I can write, sing and produce songs that can connect with what other people are feeling and help them through their difficult times of anger, sadness or confusion, that’s more important than worrying about my personal vulnerability. Over the past few years, I’ve definitely grown as a songwriter and gotten much better at putting my innermost thoughts, self-reflections and observations into words.”

Duboc’s newest track, “Indigo”, is her most vulnerable and personal release so far in her career. The track is about her childhood trauma of having an absent parent that she did not understand why until she was older. The title “Indigo” serves as a nod to the color’s associations with higher knowledge, what is unseen, and intuition.

Duboc’s lyricism is a standout feature of the song. Supported by somber guitar chords, her powerful voice sings lyrics including, “You took all my trust and you left / Now I could never forget you”, and “You’ll never understand / I was 10 and the bigger man”. Her ability to change the song’s energy is also incredibly special – the final minute of the song erupts into an explosive melody, with brazen guitar riffs and banging drums to make the audience feel her frustrations with her.

Reflecting on how far she has come as an artist and a person, Duboc said:

“It’s an amazing process confronting some of life’s great difficulties and turning them into something beautiful with the perfect words and melody. Like we’ve gone through hardship, but something wonderful has come out of it. There’s no greater feeling than seeing the end product of such a detailed creative and technical process.”

Duboc will perform on Sept. 6 at The Mint in Los Angeles. Tickets can be purchased on Dice.fm
