On Your Radar: 8 Artists to See at Lollapalooza Music Festival 2024

Chicago’s iconic Lollapalooza Music Festival is fast approaching, being held once again in historic Grant Park from Thursday, August 1 through Sunday, August 4. Announcing an exciting lineup featuring headlining acts like SZAMegan Thee StallionBlink-182The KillersFuture and Metro Boomin, HozierStray KidsMelanie Martinez, and Skrillex, attendees will also be able to catch over 170 artists from multiple genres across their nine unique stages. 

In anticipation of the beloved festival, we chose eight artists to keep on your radar and add to your festival playlists in order to prepare for the fun, music-filled weekend! 

Thursday:

d4vd
When and Where: 3:45 – 4:45 pm, Tito’s Stage
Similar Artists: Joji, Steve Lacey, JVKE, Cigarettes After Sex
Listen: “Here with Me,” “Romantic Homicide,” “Feel It”

d4vd continues to make waves in the alternative music scene due to his super energetic and dynamic performances. Debuting in 2022 with two viral tracks, “Here with Me,” and “Romantic Homicide,” his musical career instantly took off. He has since then released numerous singles and EPs, collaborated with artists such as Laufey and The Kid Laroi, and joined SZA in opening for her 2023 tour. Closing out his headlining My House Is Not A Home Tour with a performance at Lollapalooza and having recently released a new single called “There Goes My Baby,” d4vd is ready to win over even more hearts through his boundless energy and powerful music and lyrics. 

Elyanna
When and Where: 4:00 – 4:45 pm, Bacardi Stage

Rising star Elyanna is a Palestinian-Chilean singer and songwriter with an experimental Arab-pop sound who has captured the attention of audiences worldwide. Merging Arabic music with Latin rhythms, she has been foraging her own path in the industry by bridging her cultural background with her unique musical style. In 2023 Elyanna made history by becoming the first artist to perform an entire Coachella set in Arabic, and after numerous singles, EPs, and the recent release of her full-length album, Woledto, she finally announced her upcoming headlining tour, THE WOLEDTO TOUR 2024. Prepare to be mesmerized by her performance on Thursday!

Friday:

RAYE
When and Where: 3:45 – 4:45 pm, Tito’s Stage

English singer-songwriter RAYE has been an established musician in the industry for over a decade, while also writing, producing, and collaborating with prominent artists such as BeyoncéRihannaDavid GuettaJohn Legend and Ellie Goulding. After facing creative restrictions under her former label, RAYE was finally able to pursue her independent solo career in 2022. She achieved significant global success with her hit single “Escapism.,” which reached No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart and has garnered over 1 billion streams worldwide. In 2024, she won six awards at the BRIT Awards, including an impressive “Artist of the Year.” During her Coachella performance in April, she hinted about an upcoming album that will be a follow-up to her 2023 release of My 21st Century Blues. We can expect to hear her latest single, “Genesis.,” and hopefully gain more insights about her forthcoming album when she performs on the Tito’s stage next weekend.

Tiny Habits
When and Where: 4:30 – 5:10 pm, BMI Stage

Tiny Habits is a folk-pop group that was founded in 2022 by three college dormmates who came together to showcase their lush harmonies and stunning acoustic soundscapes. They started out releasing covers of popular songs such as “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac, quickly earning them viral success, which then transitioned into a demand for live performances. In April 2023 Tiny Habits released their inaugural EP, Tiny Things, followed by the announcement of their first headlining tour; in early 2024 they headlined their second tour across both North America and Europe before releasing a well received full-length album All For Something. You won’t want to miss out on their signature sound and cozy, feel-good vibe next weekend.

Saturday:

nightly
When and Where: 2:10 – 2:50 pm, BMI Stage

Alternative-pop group nightly has been taking the industry by storm due to their innovative and experiential style. The trio consists of Jonathan Capeci (vocals), Joey Beretta (bass), and Nicholas Sainato (drums), and their name is cleverly derived from an abbreviation of “Goodnight, Love You.” They have released numerous singles and EPs since coming together in 2016, and besides their own headlining tours, the group has also supported artists like Ke$ha, The All-American Rejects, The Struts, and more. After signing a record deal with BMG in 2019, they finally debuted their first full-length album night, love you, followed by their sophomore album wear your heart out, in 2023. Nightly is known for mixing unusual sounds and using everyday objects as instruments within their tracks, and we are excited to see them on the Lollapalooza lineup.

BoyWithUke
When and Where: 4:00 – 5:00 pm, Tito’s Stage
Similar Artists: AJR, mxmtoon, Arden Jones, Jeremy Zucker

BoyWithUke is a talented musician who quickly gained popularity across social media platforms due to his 2021 track “Two Moons.” The song instantly went viral on TikTok, garnering millions of streams and replays in weeks. Known for his iconic lighted mask seen throughout his social content and music videos, he delivered a surprise identity reveal this past October at the end of his “Homesick” music video, along with a subsequent social media post explaining his decision. Fans were incredibly supportive of the next chapter of his career in which he no longer hides behind a mask – completely selling out his 2024 Lucid Dreams Tour. Festival attendees can look forward to a uniquely entertaining performance from BoyWithUke and his famous ukelele. His upcoming single “Ghost” is set to release on August 1, and perhaps we will even get to hear it live!

Sunday:

Mimi Webb
When and Where: 2:45 – 3:45 pm, Bud Light Stage
Similar Artists: Tate McRae, Lauren Spencer Smith, Rita Ora, Becky Hill
Listen: “Good Without,” “House On Fire,” “Red Flags”

Pop sensation Mimi Webb quickly rose to stardom by embracing the power of social media. In 2020, her debut single “Before I Go” was featured in a video shared by mega-influencer Charlie D’Amelio, and since then, her musical career has skyrocketed. Mimi has been passionate about music since a young age and chose to study at the British Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) to refine her craft. In 2021, she released her first EP, Seven Shades of Heartbreak, and followed it up with more hit singles like “Dumb Love” and “Red Flags.” In 2023 Mimi debuted her first full-length album, Amelia, followed by multiple festival appearances across Europe. Since then the pop singer has been on everyone’s radar, and we are looking forward to seeing her light up the Bud Light Stage!

Slow Pulp
When and Where: 2:45 – 3:45 pm, T-Mobile Stage

Midwest indie group Slow Pulp will soon be treating festival attendees to their dreamy, shoegaze rock melodies and sincere lyrics. Since making Chicago their home in 2018, the band’s four members – Emily Massey, Henry Stoehr, Alex Leeds, and Teddy Mathews (three of whom have been friends since childhood) have been catching the attention of audiences with their psychedelic sounds, infectious grunge-inspired melodies, and effortlessly cool vibes. Despite facing numerous challenges during the pandemic, the group released their carefully crafted second album Yard, in 2023. With an upcoming fall tour already announced, we are fortunate to have the chance to experience a sneak peek of Slow Pulp’s musical prowess when they take the stage next weekend.
