Lamb of God and Mastodon Ignite Metal Mayhem at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre

Date:

Lamb of God and Mastodon’s Ashes of Leviathan tour was a whirlwind of intensity and raw power. Joined by metal legend Kerry King and his new band, along with UK metal quartet Malevolence, the amphitheater was electric, filled with headbanging fans and a stage presence that commanded attention. Metal fans were treated to an epic evening of blistering riffs and heavy breakdowns, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

Malevolence kicked off the night with an electrifying display of raw power and relentless energy. Their commanding presence and ferocious riffs set the tone for a night of headbanging chaos. The crowd was instantly swept up in the heavy grooves and intense breakdowns, creating an atmosphere that was both fierce and exhilarating. Malevolence’s performance solidified their status as a rising force in metal.

Next up was Kerry King’s new post-Slayer band, delivering a relentless metal spectacle. From the first blistering riff to the final note, King showcased his shredding and showmanship, leaving the crowd roaring for more. Mark Osegueda’s visceral screams, Phil Demmel’s precise guitar work, and Kyle Sanders’ nasty bass lines created an atmosphere of pure, unadulterated metal mayhem. The intensity and passion of each member’s performance made it a night to remember.

In a change from previous shows, Lamb of God took the stage before Mastodon, who headlined their hometown show. Lamb of God’s thunderous display of metal mastery was an unforgettable experience. Celebrating the 15th anniversary of “Ashes of the Wake,” they played the album in full, starting with “Laid to Rest” as the curtain dropped and the crowd erupted. Randy Blythe’s infectious intensity, Mark Morton and Willie Adler’s perfect blend of rhythm and riffs, and the solid groove from John Campbell and Art Cruz created a high-octane set. The band’s tight performance and relentless energy had the crowd headbanging and shouting along to every anthem.

Mastodon closed out the night with a breathtaking fusion of sonic exploration and heavy metal. Their intricate riffs and dynamic soundscapes captivated the audience, complemented by stunning, otherworldly visuals. Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher’s dual guitar work, Sanders’ commanding presence, and Dailor’s dynamic drumming provided a show that was both intense and awe-inspiring. Each song was a journey, blending epic prog-rock elements with their signature heaviness, leaving fans in awe of their hometown heroes.

The Ashes of Leviathan Tour is a must-see for metal fans, offering a mix of rising stars and legendary acts delivering high-energy performances. If you’re a fan of the genre or live music, this tour is not to be missed.
