ORKID and Lew Collaborate on Touching Tribute “Where Flowers Grow”

Date:

As dubbed by Clash, Sweden’s “red-hot pop export” ORKID just dropped a new single, “Where Flowers Grow”, on July 19. Living in Stockholm, the country’s modern pop hub, ORKID takes influence from artists including Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole. Her music is characterized by soulful, fragile yet powerful vocals.

As her career takes off, ORKID has earned features on Spotify’s “New Music Friday” in more than 20 countries. She is perfecting her craft through songwriting sessions with prominent songwriters and producers including Shane Stevens (Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande), Eddie Serafica (David Guetta, Summer Walker), and Laconic (Madison Beer, Nicki Minaj).

ORKID’s upcoming EP, Where Flowers Grow, is a testament to her late mother. The newly released title track blends the beauty and sadness felt through the experience of visiting her mother’s grave, where the lyric “where flowers grow” came to life. ORKID added:

“My mom’s grave is the one place where I feel closest to her and can sense her presence. Even though she’s the one lying beneath the earth, it feels like a huge part of me is also buried with her.”

Beautifully melancholic, “Where Flowers Grow” features a tremolo-drenched guitar and pounding subs. Co-writer Lew’s raw, emotive vocals offer even more depth to the tune. About the track, ORKID said:

“We wanted this song to resonate with anyone who deeply misses someone. ‘Where Flowers Grow’ can symbolize a person or a place, but at its heart, the song is about not being alone in that longing.”
