Recent News: Her sophomore EP Kowloon Demos comes out today.

With the release of her magnetic sophomore EP, Kowloon Demos, Deb Fan continues to solidify her intense and compelling artistry. Born and raised in Hong Kong and now based in Los Angeles, Fan is a rising R&B and soul artist with a musicality that is balanced by featherlight vocals and hard-hitting confidence and determination. Professionally trained in audio engineering and classically trained in piano and vocals, the control that Fan has over her art is clear and evident in her recently released six-track EP. Kowloon Demos is preceded by Fan’s 2023 EP Gemini Moon and two singles, “Lady” and “Closer to Hell” were released ahead of her second EP.

Throughout her musical career, Fan has earned praise from Billboard and The Line of Best Fit and has graced numerous Spotify playlists, including All New Indie, Fresh Finds: R&B and Ethereal. In 2023 she embarked on her first tour where she opened for Hojean and in June she played the KOHAI showcase. Now, she celebrates the release of her sophomore EP.

Kowloon Demos is a deeply personal body of work as Fan recalls themes of nostalgia, reflection and upbringing. “Closer to Hell,” the EP’s second single, is inspired by Fan’s recent pilgrimage to Hong Kong. Her first visit in nearly three years, the song is a beautifully haunting tune that questions cultural duality. The track serves as the perfect embodiment of her recent record, which is equal parts heavenly and eerie.

Deb Fan’s artistry ultimately represents the balance of two worlds. Whether these worlds are heaven and hell, calming and intense or grounded and ethereal, Fan is exceptional when it comes to bringing two electrifying senses together to create a sound that ignites the senses of listeners.
