The Midnight Cowgirls Release Debut Single “Giddy Up”

Date:

On July 19, all-female country rock group the Midnight Cowgirls released their debut single “Giddy Up”. Along with the song’s release, the band dropped a music video for the single and announced that their self-titled debut record comes out July 24 via Licorice Pizza Records. On album release day, Midnight Cowgirls will celebrate with an album release party and in-store performance at Licorice Pizza in Studio City, California.

Midnight Cowgirls wrangles together multiple genres, including country, rockabilly, post-punk and new wave. Their debut single is a retro-inspired rockabilly tune with a fresh breath of classic country twang, decorated beautifully by its cinematic music video where the band is seen driving a hot rod through the California desert and playing together in matching bedazzled western wear.

Composed of Kandle Osborne (lead vocals/guitar), Rex Elle (lead guitar) and two members of Eagles of Death Metal, Jennie Vee (bass) and Leah Bluestein (drums), the Midnight Cowgirls are an electrifying and authentic rock and roll group that will no doubt make serious waves in the indie music scene.

As their debut single and music video coincided with the announcement of their inaugural album release, the group is also preparing to set out on their first tour dates. Starting July 27, the Midnight Cowgirls will make their touring debut as they open for legendary rockabilly group the Stray Cats for a steady string of dates until mid-August.

The Midnight Cowgirls began when Vee was working on the summer wardrobe for Eagles of Death Metal. Taking style inspiration from artists like Patsy Cline and Elvis Presley, Vee had created a black fringed jumpsuit that she appropriately named “Midnight Cowgirl”. “What makes the clothing ‘authentic’ was the musical story behind it,” she says, “I knew then I had to start a country inspired band and call it the Midnight Cowgirls.”

Within their upcoming debut record, listeners can expect to find glittering tracks that break the barriers of modern music while embracing feminism, independence, friendships and country music. “Giddy Up” is only a sneak peek of the signature girl power-meets-rockabilly vibe that the Midnight Cowgirls are setting out to share with the world. Osborne expands on the release:

“Driving through the dusty desert in our custom-made Jennie Vee outfits for our ‘Giddy Up’ video, we couldn’t help but feel we were living in a Tarantino movie! Our excitement and energy feels contagious! This band is pure talent, hard work and loads of love — we can’t wait to step on stage and blow the world away!”
