Known for creating “music for everyone,” as claimed by UPROXX, Beach Weather will be here to give you songs to listen to in all kinds of weather – but especially during this time of year. The alt-pop band have been burning up since the release of their 2023 debut album, Pineapple Sunrise, a project that went on to receive Gold certification in Canada and Platinum certification in the US. Fans could not get enough of the album’s hit single “Sex, Drugs, Etc.,” which was the fastest track to reach number one on the Alt Radio charts last year. Beach Weather then went on a sold-out tour of North America to promote Pineapple Sunrise, setting the bar high for an incredible 2024. The tour only increased the buzz for their next release, and in May, Beach Weather dropped “High In Low Places.” The single signaled the start of the next chapter for the band and kept that fire aglow in fans who were eager for new music. Beach Weather are only adding fuel to the fire now with “Hottest Summer on Record.”
For anyone feeling the heat of the sun’s rays lately, “Hottest Summer on Record” could not have come at a better time. The single is filled with sizzling vocals, sweet melodies, and full downbeats, capturing the essence of a hot summer’s day. All the while, vocalist Nick Santino gives us nostalgic lyrics that touch on a burning memory. He sings, “You were the hottest summer on record / That I can remember / What a beautiful place to burn / Got me caught up in the headlights,” but also changes that last line later on in the song to “Got me fucked up in the head like…,” showing us the duality of the situation. You can check it out below.
Telling us more about the single, guitarist Sean Silverman explains,
“The song came about after a trip to Joshua Tree and taking mushrooms for the first time. It was the perfect summer day that felt more like a mirage than reality. When we got back to Phoenix, Nick and I had been working on a few other starts, but this one really stood out. There’s this great tension release in the build up to the chorus that sort of felt reminiscent of getting to the apex of this amazing trip where you’re equal parts euphoric and nervous that it would end.”
You can listen to “Hottest Summer on Record” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
