znels Can’t Fool Himself in Latest Single

Date:

Pop rock artist znels released his newest single, “fool myself”, on July 12. Hailing from Tipp City, Ohio, znels melds pop rock, electronic, and alternative genres to create a journey into his mind.

In “fool myself”, co-produced with Connor Daniel (iann dior, Ashton Irwin, Demi Lovato), znels uses songwriting to confess his experiences. The energetic track explores the feeling of acting fine despite being entirely not okay. In a press release for the track, he said “Well, turns out ‘I’m fine’ is one of the most common lies we tell”.

The lyrics are a standout feature of this track. znels reminisces on a previous relationship, singing “Sometimes I catch myself laughing at our inside jokes / Sometimes I find myself watching all your TV shows”. He later shares the pressure he is feeling to move on, with lines including “Too many things in my mind like / All of the time I spend / Trying to be somebody / More than the ex-boyfriend”.

Beyond the lyrics, the song is a track to blast whenever you need it. znels said it best himself in a post on X (Twitter), using his typical all-lowercase text:

“hey twitter friends i made this song for you to listen to at max volume”
