Horse Jumper of Love announce new album out in August and add UK and European tour dates

Date:

Massachusetts-based indie rock band Horse Jumper of Love has announced their fifth studio album, Disaster Trick, is set to be released on Aug. 16 through Run For Cover Records.

The band, which debuted in 2013, currently consists of Dimitri Giannopoulos (lead vocals, guitar), John Margaris (bass, backing vocals) and Jamie Vadala-Doran (drums, percussion).

Alongside the announcement, the band released their latest single, “Today’s Iconoclast,” a brutally honest track infused with wry humor. The track is accompanied by a compelling music video directed by Rhys Scarabosio. The trio began releasing singles ahead of the forthcoming album throughout May and June, including “Wink” and “Snow Angel.”

Giannopoulos discussed the inspiration behind “Today’s Iconoclast” off Disaster Trick:

“I was watching a Pasolini film and read someone describe him as an iconoclast. I became obsessed with that word and idea. In order to make something good, you have to destroy a belief in some way. You can’t stay static, you have to accept change and be able to adjust. I was thinking everyone should try to be as iconoclastic as they can because a lot of people end up being unhappy or unsatisfied. I think we all could be happier if we made an effort to destroy what we believe to be true about our own desires.”

Disaster Trick finds the trio maintaining an intimate connection in their music, utilizing Giannopoulos’ introspective and emotional lyrics and musical arrangements to create intensely passionate and heartfelt songs as they dive deeper into the shoegaze genre. Speaking about the album, Giannopoulos added:

“This was the first album I’ve ever done where I went into it with a very clear mind. In the past, we would just show up at a studio, drink, and record. Here, everything felt purposeful.”
