The alternative-pop singer songwriter, Imfalls, emerges into the music scene with his compelling voice, soulful melodies, and cathartic songwriting. He has captured the hearts of thousands of listeners worldwide and continues to do so with the release of his newest single, “Cheap Perfume.”

Coming from a small town in Wisconsin, Benjamin Sanchez, aka imfalls, has become known for his distinctive style, taking inspiration from artists like David Kushner and Billie Eilish. What sets Sanchez apart is his ability to draw from personal experiences, incorporating his emotions into every aspect of the song writing process, which in turn creates an authentic connection with his listeners. The up-and-comer is making waves in the industry with his relentless work ethic and innovative ideas.

How has your approach to songwriting changed from this single to previous ones, such as “What’s the Point” or “Don’t Go” and what is the message you want your listeners to take away from “Cheap Perfume”?
I have recently started making music for myself, where as in the past I would write a song to try and make a hit or viral sound on TikTok. With “Cheap Perfume”, I truly resonated with the lyrics I was writing.

I want my listeners to know that heartbreak is a part of life’s course, you are supposed to cry and get angry. You are going to experience tough times in your life, but it’s what you do with the emotions that’s important.

How did you channel your emotions into the lyrics and melody of the song?
This question is a little tough to answer. When a relationship ends, you may find yourself dwelling on the person that they used to be. You may feel sad that they won’t ever be the person they once were ever again, but it makes for really good music.

How do you know when a song is finished?
I trust my ear. I do all my own engineering at home. When it comes to the engineering, I only trust my own judgement. “Cheap Perfume” had 22 revisions and after listening to it for the 23rd time, I could hear that it was done and ready to be released.

How does music help you cope with stress and difficult emotions?
The first time I ever experienced depression was when I moved out to California. Music allowed me to put my emotions on paper. Putting pen to paper is like therapy for me. When I write something down, I feel validated, like these are my thoughts and I should own them.

How do you handle creative blocks and challenges in your career?
When I get writers block, I call my manager George, who is one of the most logical and trust worthy people I know. He’s always given me the best advice, which is to take a week off, reset, and then come back and write an incredible song.

What is one thing you want people to know about you?
I take pride in being approachable. I want people to know that I’m interested in hearing their stories and getting to know them!
