Rising alt-rock star JULES IS DEAD has released their newest single “Eternally (undeath)”. This is the first single from Jules since their last single “Spells and Power Thoughts” released in December 2023. Their musicality is an intoxicating blend of pop punk, emo, and alt-rock, and Jules’ signature sound proves that they are a force to be reckoned with in the alternative music scene.
They will celebrate the song’s release with upcoming live shows at Sneaky Dee’s in Toronto on July 27 and at the 3rd Annual Vaughan International Music Festival on August 24 (with additional dates to be announced soon).
In “Eternally (undeath)”, Jules delivers an increased emo and pop punk musicality compared to their previous releases. Calling to mind the upbeat composition of “Spells and Power Thoughts” and staying true to the high energy of “My Own Hell”, “Eternally (undeath)” is a full throttle, enchanting track that conveys the tale of a deadly and romantic love story.
You and I in endless sleep
So dig my grave and bury me
Break my bones but don’t break me
I’m your bloodstained bride, eternally
Regarding the haunting new release, Jules describes it as “a love song about a vampire romance inspired by my obsession with gothic film and literature.” They sing from the point of a view of a blood soaked lover, confessing their desire for a love that is all-consuming. Calling to mind images of gothic cathedrals, wax candles and vintage horror films, Jules has dropped the ultimate rock anthem for a goth vampire summer: “I’m dead inside, ingesting cyanide / Invade my mind, my favorite parasite“.
Signed through a joint partnership of Atlantic Records and TAG Music, JULES IS DEAD takes inspiration from a variety of rock artists, including Bikini Kill, My Chemical Romance and Nirvana. They originally made their entrance into music by posting cover songs of their favorite artists on TikTok, and by 2021 they had accumulated a devout following. Now, with over 300k TikTok followers and four singles under their belt, JULES IS DEAD is currently working on their debut project and preparing to tour.
As they write fiery songs that convey various themes ranging from mental health, relationships and the comfort found within alternative interests, Jules is relentlessly pushing the boundaries of the rock genre as a powerful non-binary artist of color. Furthermore, throughout their musical journey, the Ontario native has never forgotten what it means to be a fan:
“Going to shows is very important to me — I plan my social life around them, I dye my hair according to whoever I’m going to see in the next few months. It’s always really emotional for me, because there’s something so powerful about being in a room with 200 or 20,000 people who love the same thing you love and feel the same way you feel. And I want everyone to experience that when they come to see me — I want them to feel completely free and scream their hearts out and know that even if they go by themselves, they’re not really alone.”
