Lillian Hepler is above making her ex “Famous” on new single

Date:

If somebody told you to get in front of millions of people and read aloud from your diary, would you have the heart to do so? Not many people could, but Lillian Hepler is an exception. Ever since she released her debut single, the rising pop artist has invited listeners into her own private world. Her songs, like recent hits “Call Me Yours” and “House of Lies,” have showcased her stream-of-consciousness writing style, highlighting the way she deals with personal experiences. Many fans have been able to relate, sending streaming numbers up into the millions on past singles like “Easy” and “Nightmare.” Lillian always strives to put forward who she is into her music, and as we hear on her new single, her thoughts about exes are not off-limits.

On “Famous,” Lillian gives us a cheeky breakup banger. The sound oscillates from eerie to wrathful, as we hear distant piano plinks during the verses and heavy horns in the choruses. All the while, Lillian dishes on an ex who betrayed her. She sings, “She’s just a friend / But in the end / A friend you knew too well,” elaborating on what happened. We truly feel her wrath in the choruses as she sings with exposed vocals, “I would call you out, but I don’t wanna make you FAMOUS! / Write you in a song, but why should they know what your NAME IS?!” You can check it out below.

About “Famous,” Lillian explains,

“This song was born out of frustration as to how a lot of relationships tend to go these days. You meet someone, plan a future together, and then all hell breaks loose, they betray you, and you’re left watching this person move on without you. It feels like you’re always the bad guy and that they never have to face the consequences for the things they’ve said and done. But, the best revenge is actually just moving on and never having their name come out of your mouth again. People can only take credit if you give it to them, and I don’t like giving people who have hurt me the satisfaction of that. I just pretend they never existed.”

You can listen to “Famous” on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
