Alternative rock duo Loveless released their newest single and music video, “Heart-Shaped Soul”, on June 27. While they formed the band in 2020, Julian Comeau (vocalist and producer) and Dylan Tirapelli-Jamail (multi-instrumentalist) signed with BMG and Rise Records in early 2023. Loveless has experienced huge success early on, boasting over 300,000 Spotify followers and over one million monthly listeners.
“Heart-Shaped Soul” features high energy guitars and drums while Comeau sings about a toxic relationship. He regrets letting the relationship progress to this point, as he sings “But honestly I hate / That I ever let you close”. Later in the song, he conveys his mixed emotions around the situation, singing “Some days I think / I got it under control / But then I throw my feelings out the window”.
The song’s music video adds more depth to what Comeau sings. Featuring intense close-up shots, the video intensifies the dying relationship’s conflict. In just one day since its premiere, the video has received over 30,000 views.
“Heart-Shaped Soul” was released in advance of the band’s upcoming album, Loveless II, which will premiere on September 13, 2024. The band also will begin their highly anticipated tour on August 23, 2024, at the 2024 Reading Festival in Reading, United Kingdom. Tickets can be found on the band’s website.
