“What do I hear when the music stops? I heard silence like I had never heard before. I heard an emptiness that overtook me. I missed the music of my life, I missed the safety it gave me. I had lost my love for the feeling. I went to hell and back since my last album. I questioned myself, I questioned my music, and I questioned life and its purpose. And through that, I heard faint sounds ever so often that resembled a beautiful melody. They guided me through the silence back to the place I call home – the music. Keep listening, keep holding on to tomorrow. Especially when you don’t hear anything anymore. Especially when the music stops. This ones for me. This ones for you. This ones for us.”

Leaving behind a trail of sonic brilliance, jxdn releases his highly anticipated second album WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS. Drawing inspiration from The Strokes and Deftones, jxdn has meticulously crafted each track, pulling from his own emotion, and has found his sound while remaining true to his authenticity. His music continues to be an anthem for the misunderstood, the lost souls who are looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. He connects with his fans in a way that most artists don’t and reminds them that they are seen and their struggles are heard.

June 28th is a day that will always be held near and dear to the hearts of jxdn, his family and friends, and his listeners. Though it is the release date of his sophomore album, most importantly, it’s the birthday of his late best friend Cooper Noriega who sadly passed away due to fentanyl poisoning. Like jxdn, Noriega was an advocate for those who struggle with mental health and addiction. After his passing, the Noriega family wanted to help keep Cooper’s legacy alive and created The Coops Advice Foundation. A portion of each ticket sold on the WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS Tour was donated to the foundation.

jxdn captivates the audience right off the bat with opening track “LOST ANGEL.” The song paints a hauntingly vivid picture about loneliness and being on the search for your own identity while navigating the complexities of life and your own personal inner demons. “Now you’re looking in the rear view, and now you finally see the real you.” For those of you who were fortunate enough to attend his previous tour, “WRECK ME” may sound familiar, a fan favorite from the moment he started teasing it. The upbeat track discusses the reality of the highs and lows in an all consuming passionate love. “If I see you again, I know you’ll wreck me.”

“JUST LET GO” is a song that the singer has claimed to be a “focus track” of the album. The lyrics speak on the idea of not taking things too seriously and letting go of the things you can’t control. “Why can’t you just let go. Holding on to things that we both know you can’t control.” Further down in the album comes “HOW FAR.” The track explores themes of ambition and personal sacrifice in the pursuit of success. Sometimes in order to find the success you are looking for, you have to evaluate the relationships in your life and the path you are going down to see if they are going to get you where you want to be. “Whenever I let go, you never leave. Cause you’re like the ocean, i’m stranded at sea. How the hell did we both end up alone. How the hell did your heartbeat get so cold. Tell me when did you find out we’re better off alone. How far is too far. How high is too high.”

“Drugs” is a track that confronts the harsh hitting reality of substance abuse. It explores the emotional and physical toll of relying on drugs to escape from reality. Drugs can make you feel empty and desperate and this song highlights how they fail to relieve the pain you are feeling. “Oh the drugs don’t work anymore. Ya I’ve tried them all before.”

We are in an era where artists are trying to make a cookie cutter hit or are trying to be the next viral sound on TikTok, but jxdn disrupts the industry with this album. He is a breath of fresh air in our society and is unapologetically himself. The singer has blended elements of pop punk, rock, and hip hop to create art that serves as a testament to his message of self acceptance and empowerment. jxdn is leading the charge for a change in the music industry.
