Henry Morris Releases “Hollywood Sextape” Ahead of Debut Album ‘Jawbreaker’

Date:

On June 20, Henry Morris released his newest single, “Hollywood Sextape”. This song came just one day before his release of his debut album, Jawbreaker, which features “Hollywood Sextape” among 15 other tracks.

While Morris’s Spotify discography only dates to last year, he has quickly developed an impressive presence on social media. Particularly, his Instagram reels have brought a lot of attention to his page – especially a reel from last December in which he attracts Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys, and The Neighbourhood fans to listen to his music.

After the release of “Hollywood Sextape”, Morris said on Instagram that it is “about the horrors of powerful men in Hollywood and the story of a girl who escapes them”. In the piece, Morris does an expert job of conveying this story, creating a hauntingly beautiful yet addicting track.

Morris’ lyricism is a standout feature of this song. Emotionally moving lyrics make you feel for the song’s main character as Morris sings, “She was 25 / With some starry eyes / Traded her innocence / For a one-way flight”, and “If you smile for the camera, get undressed / They’re still selling sex on VHS”.

The song’s official visualizer adds more depth to the story Morris tells. In a dimly lit room, Morris is seen drinking from a flask and taking pills while sitting in a tub. Through this, he brings out the less glamorous side of fame in a simple yet poignant visualization.

While on social media Morris jokingly alludes to sounding like The Neighbourhood, he is creating his own unique sound and rapidly making a name for himself.
