Cameron Sage From leans into dark pop on new single, “Demon”

Date:

Toronto-born singer Cameron Sage From’s latest single “Demon” delivers a dark pop musing about powerful femininity that thuds and clangs with force. The song’s skittering guitar, bass and heavy percussion instrumentation hook listeners in quickly as the singer plays with vocal effects and screams that fill the remaining sonic space. The track’s instrumentation is clearly inspired by the likes of Billie Eilish and Maggie Lindemann, but is more spacious and restrained than the latter. Sage From sing-raps the songs verses quickly before stretching her syllables out like taffy in the chorus.

The singer’s sound is impressively refined given that “Demons” is only her fourth single to date. Whether this is because of Sage From’s own artistic vision or not is unclear, but regardless, the single delivers on its title’s promise to be a haunting and thumping dark pop knockout.

You can listen to “Demon” on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
