Melodic Music Monday: June 24

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

YUNGBLUD, “breakdown.” – In an industry where authenticity feels like a rare gem, YUNGBLUD is a beacon of light. The singer is known for blending elements of punk rock, pop, hip hop and alternative sounds that mirror the complexity of today’s youth culture. His music continues to transcend any genre of music and that’s no different for his new single “breakdown.” It is one of those songs that reminds us we all have a purpose in this life and that we all have greatness inside of us.

– Reagan Denning

——

Gracie Abrams, “Blowing Smoke” – Abrams is bitter, heartbroken and emotional in “Blowing Smoke.” Even when she tries to move on in the previous track, she struggles with her ex moving on and becomes increasingly insecure and curious about the new relationship. She sings, “If she’s got a pulse, she meets your standards now?”

– Clare Gehlich

——

Summer Salt, “Take Carra Me” – Texas-based indie rock band Summer Salt’s latest single “Take Carra Me” combines the retro sounds of summer with contemporary production to create an easy, breezy summer anthem. An electronic-sounding drum opens the song before well-rounded instrumentation fills in the empty space, including soft percussion, slick guitar and vocal layering.

– Avery Heeringa

——

All To Get Her, “Golden” – After a successful couple of years, Zurich-based band All To Get Her puts out their newest single. “Golden” focuses on the band itself, and how they’ve grown in their sound and come into their own over these past couple of years. On top of this, they’ve also achieved success on their debut record Cheesecakes and Earthquakes. This song focuses on how through all of this success, they’ve proven everyone that second-guessed them wrong.

– James Wieners

——

Marla Lewis, “Te Quiero a Ti” – New Jersey’s own Marla Lewis dazzles once again with her latest single, “Te Quiero a Ti.” This enchanting track, available in both Spanish and English, melds Marla’s sublime bossa nova-inspired vocals with a lush and sophisticated arrangement of flute, piano, acoustic bass, electric guitar, drums, and backing vocals. The result? Pure musical magic that captures the essence of romance and vulnerability.
