Coastal Club, an indie-rock band out of Cincinnati, Ohio, released their newest song, “lost my head” today. The group, formed in 2016, blends indie rock, pop, and surf music in the hopes of bringing people together through their music. Ironically landlocked in the state of Ohio, the group takes refuge in reminiscing on the best times of their lives – which often were spent on the beach with loved ones.
“lost my head” is the latest single from the band’s upcoming album, All of the Things You Said, available to listeners on July 19. The song explores the inner turmoil that occurs when others distort your reality. Through brooding melodies supported by a driving rhythm, the piece aims to capture the feeling of being disoriented while questioning your own sanity due to someone else’s manipulation, according to the band.
Influenced by artists including Young the Giant and COIN, Coastal Club intended to add more depth and weight to their music on All of the Things You Said. Many of their tracks sound lighthearted and playful on the surface, but deeper down cover topics including mental health, religion, and love lost.
About the song, Coastal Club’s Alexandre Hirlinger said:
“We’re inviting listeners on a cathartic journey through the depths of the psyche. “lost my head” is more than just a song — it’s a beacon of solidarity for those who have felt the dizzying effects of having their reality manipulated by others and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.”
