While rising pop singer and songwriter Paulina has only been on the scene for a short while, she manages to captivate audiences with each release. Last year, she dropped her debut EP, the show goes on, which included fan-favorite single “best friend.” Other popular tracks on the project included “carousel habits” and “temporary fixes,” which showcased her magnetic sound and intricate songwriting skills. She is gearing up to release her sophomore EP, everything’s still, this summer with Sam Merkin, who also produced the show goes on. This new project will continue to expand on what we have heard from Paulina thus far.
In February, Paulina released “super feeler,” a sweeping pop ballad that touched on what it is like to feel too much. It was vulnerable and relatable, much like her newest single “stranger.” On “stranger,” Paulina reflects on a relationship with someone close to her that changed into something that she could not define. A dark pop-rock anthem with progressive beats and eerie riffs, the song conjures up some complicated feelings. With emotive vocals, Paulina sings, “You swallowed every secret / Told me you would keep it / Nothing left to do / Now you’re a stranger,” baffled by the way things turned out. You can check it out below.
About “stranger,” Paulina shares,
“It’s about the phenomenon of someone close to you becoming a complete stranger. It’s haunting, bold, and more angsty than my past songs. It introduces a different side of me, unlocking a new era of music that has been insanely fun to create.”
You can listen to “stranger” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
