Pop artist Halsey’s fifth studio album is on its way soon, following the release of their album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (2021).
Halsey took to social media to announce the release of their first song off their upcoming album yesterday; the single is titled “The End.”
On her newly launched website, For My Last Trick, Halsey reportedly sent physical letters to fans and published a letter hinting at the new record.
“There’s so much I am going to reveal on this record, but you need to know some of the story first. So before the chaos and confetti of big singles and album releases I just need to tell you, my friend, why it all matters this time. I’m releasing a new song on June 4. It’s just for us. Let’s start at THE END,” Halsey wrote.
“The End” is an acoustic guitar-driven track that explores Halsey’s struggles with childhood, vulnerability, and other personal issues. While acknowledging that these emotional reckonings aren’t the end of the world, Halsey expresses a desire to be loved and held as if they were. They sing, “If you knew it was the end of the world / Would you like to stay a while? / Would you leave when it gets hard?”
Halsey also revealed that they had been diagnosed with lupus and battled leukemia.
Their upcoming record will be the singer’s first album under Columbia Records after parting ways with Capitol Records in June 2023.
