Child Seat Releases New Single “Fever” From Upcoming Album

Date:

Powerhouse duo Child Seat has just released their newest single “Fever”, and it combines a nostalgic 80s vibe with a modern twist. The duo, comprised of vocalist Madeleine Mathews (MAWD) and instrumentalist Josiah Mazzaschi (Light FM, Bizou), have graced us with this track ahead of their upcoming album Dancing at the Disco, set to release June 21st via Moonboot! Records.

“Fever” starts off with bold synths and punchy drums, plunging us right into the track. Madeleine Mathews’ confident, smoky vocals come in describing a scene from walking late at night in the city. She’s joined by airy background vocals before we head right into the chorus as she boldly sings “I wanna feel the fever”. The word “fever” is emphasized by a strong vocal style, while the rest of the lyrics of the chorus come across as flirtatious and coy.

We pause in silence before the second verse starts right up, even more energetic than the first. The addition of a wailing saxophone puts emphasis in all the right places as Mathews continues her narrative. The sax carries us through the next chorus, adding a jazzy element to the 80s synths. After the chorus, we enjoy an instrumental break where the saxophone is the star of the show. The synths and drums continue to drive the song along in the background.

We pause again as Mathews almost whispers “I wanna feel the” and she’s abruptly cut off by a sonic guitar heading into its well-deserved solo. Lyrics from the chorus are peppered back in over the instrumentals as we build up to something even more epic.

The intensity of the track reaches an all-time high as the sax wails, guitars grow more chaotic, and the lyrics of the chorus are desperately repeated. All of this grounded by a subtle but consistent beat. Finally, the instrumentals all cut off, and an electronic voice singing “fever” carries us to the end.

With “Fever”, Child Seat has created a track that will be stuck in listeners’ heads. The synths and drums that ground the track blend seamlessly with Ron Dziubla’s saxophone and Mathews’ unique vocals to create an unforgettable sound. After hearing this song, we can’t wait to hear their upcoming album.
