Darius Martin is a genre-fluid artist from Los Angeles taking an exciting dive into Afrobeats on his latest single “Fill My Cup”. Written about the natural euphoria that comes from spending time with those we love or exploring a new passion, “Fill My Cup” is an ode to all the things in life that make us feel complete.
“Fill My Cup” excites with swift percussion, island-inspired riffs, and ear-catching beats that make your heart beat faster. Martin sings, “Can you fill my cup / Right over / With your love / Don’t leave me sober.” Martin seeks to spread positivity with his music and finds a platform to amplify his message through the Afrobeats movement. The visualizer for “Fill My Cup” leans into Martin’s hope of building community by capturing an energetic party amongst dear friends. “Fill My Cup” is a feel-good anthem for the approaching summer that encourages us all to embrace what makes us happy with an open heart.
Revealing more on his track, Martin confides, “Wizkid, Tems, and Omah Lay are some of my favorite Afrobeats artists right now. This genre is so important, because it’s a part of something much bigger than just music – it’s an entire movement happening right in front of our eyes! I feel that music should represent positivity as much as possible and when I listen to Afrobeats that’s what I see portrayed most. “Fill My Cup” isn’t about alcohol or anything that can harm you; it’s about love and filling your cup up with God, knowledge, understanding, peace, love, and everything positive! I wanted to make a feel-good song you can spend summer nights driving around to.”
Darius Martin grew up in the American Southwest with roots in El Paso, Texas and Alamogordo, New Mexico. After moving to Los Angeles, Martin got his degree from the Los Angeles Film Institute. “Fill My Cup” is his new single.
