One artist who might be on your list is Canadian country artist Teigen Gayse. Teigen is gearing up for an incredible summer, with shows and festival appearances scheduled across Canada. While at these shows, fans might be lucky to hear “Sleeping With Her,” which was released last year. The single recently became Teigen’s highest charting radio single to date, beating out “If You Show Me Yours,” also from last year. Fans might also be lucky to hear “Better Mistake,” Teigen’s newest single that serves as a perfect soundtrack to not only festival season but for a summer romance as well.
There are times when you accidentally fall in love with a close friend in your life. You go on for years, not planning for anything more to happen, but one day, you find yourself in a situation that turns the friendship into something more. With “Better Mistake,” Teigen captures this spontaneous moment in time, this random mistake. Over the sounds of a playful country production, she sings, “We didn’t mean for this to happen / We were just friends, closin’ it down / Yeah, we got caught up in the moment / But hey, look at us now.” She reveals, “Sometimes that’s what it takes / To find that someone great,” and admits that after all is said and done, she could not have made a “better mistake.”
About “Better Mistake,” Teigen explains,
“‘Better Mistake’ is a song about unexpectedly falling for someone you consider a friend. Instead of a romance filled with regret, you realize you couldn’t have made a better mistake. I wrote this song on my first writing trip to Nashville with Phil Barton and David Thompson. I brought the title in and we ran with it. I remember how fun and effortless it felt for the three of us to complete the song so quickly. I love how it turned out and am so excited to finally share it with you all!”
