Nashville-based musician Tessa Dalton may only be 19, but music has been her passion since she was little. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in commercial fiddle at Belmont University, she’s versatile — in fiddling, multiple instruments and songwriting. Now she has released her debut single “One More Night,” an indie-rock ballad delving into the emotions of unresolved feelings and longing that come after a breakup.
Dalton composed and recorded the song during a break in her hometown of Idaho. She revealed that she wrote the song in a stairwell following a college breakup. Despite the relationship starting off positively, its bitter conclusion left her grappling with a desire for closure. We’ve all been there; sad, heartbroken and at times, trying to fix something we can’t.
“It was a good relationship, but it ended badly. I hated how the ending overshadowed the good times that I hoped to remember. I wanted one more night to leave it on a better note,” Dalton said.
In the song, Dalton sings, “Oh I need one more night to make myself forget / All the fights every word you said / One more night leave it better than / We left it.”
Dalton’s debut single, “One More Night” is heartfelt, sad and honest, and she manages to seamlessly capture raw emotions in her songwriting. It’s evident that her passion for music will continue to resonate with bigger audiences.
