We took a little ride with Matty Marz last month when she released her pop-electronica hit “EPILL,” a trippy track that can gladly accompany anyone on a wild night out. Throughout the single, Matty blends elements of electronic music of the late 90s and the playful spirit of pop music from the 2000s to get a sonorous and indulgent soundscape, setting us up for the hypnotic lyrics. The single will be featured on Matty’s upcoming debut album, m.w.u, which will showcase her years of experience in production, performance, and songwriting. Matty is considered a part of the new generation of young trans women taking control of the pop music scene, and her confidence comes through on songs like “Lacazette,” the latest single from the album.
A “fast-paced, heart-pounding pop anthem,” as described by the press, “Lacazette” is filled with glossy illusions and inspiring messages. Matty shows her range vocally, productionally, and melodically, blending slick downbeats with prominent bass lines while highlighting the dark and light colors of her voice. Over the textured instrumentation, she sings, “Movie magic on the set / I’m a star” and “Call you Lacazette / Push the bar,” reminding anyone that nothing is off-limits. Basically, if you can believe in yourself, you can get where you want to go. You can watch this idea play out in the magnetic video below.
Telling us more about “Lacazette,” Matty explains,
“It’s a self-empowerment bop cloaked in lush instrumentation. I hope that ‘Lacazette’ will have the listener feeling like they can conquer the world and shoot that winning goal in ANY situation.”
You can listen to “Lacazette” on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
