Nigerian-American artist, Gozie Ukaga unveiled his latest single, “Interstate Ninety Four,” which explores vulnerability and uncertainty in relationships. Based in the Saint Paul area, Ukaga is known for his work as a songwriter and producer, having contributed to several records by his collaborators.
He reflects on the changes in his life and relationships, expressing a struggle to find clarity and understanding in his life. With lyrics like, “trying to catch my breath but I can barely breathe” he captures the emotional weight he feels.
“Interstate Ninety Four” showcases Ukaga’s alternative R&B sound and ability to curate catchy melodies in the process. With its minimal production and vibe reminiscent of Frank Ocean, Ukaga creates a sound that we’ve been missing in R&B music, and the new track opens up doors toward his musical future.
After releasing his debut EP SHADE on Nov. 29, 2019, Ukaga’s first full length project titled COLOR is set for release soon.
