Three years after her sophomore album, Happier Than Ever, Billie Eilish is back with a new album which will be called HIT ME HARD AND SOFT and comes out on May 17th.
Billie Eilish has been building anticipation for her upcoming release for several weeks. It all started with a subtle change: she updated her profile picture to a simple blue circle. Next, cryptic billboards began appearing around New York City, featuring phrases that seem to be lyrics from her new songs. Billie gave her fans a more personal touch by adding her followers to her close friends list on Instagram. On her close friend’s story she started sharing photos and snippets, like a tattoo on her leg that reveals part of the album’s title. Later, she shared images of water, which turned out to be the cover art for the upcoming album.
She has decided not to release any singles ahead of her upcoming album. She wants all the songs to be experienced together, creating a cohesive album. Judging from the short video snippet she shared on social media, fans are extremely intrigued and excited to see what she has in store. If she drew any inspiration from her recent song for the Barbie movie, “What Was I Made For?” This album is sure to be incredible.
