bôa is back after a nearly 20-year hiatus with new single “Walk With Me”

Date:

You can say what you want about social media, but time and time again, it comes in handy. Various social media platforms have been responsible for relaunching the careers of certain artists or turning a tiny song into a massive hit. For UK alt-rock band bôa, TikTok has been responsible for the band’s official comeback.

In the mid-2000s, the group went on a hiatus, using the time to explore different projects and assume other roles. At the end of 2021, however, their 1998 single “Duvet” was sampled by Yung Beef, introducing the song to a whole new generation of fans. It has now been featured in 300,000 TikTok videos and has accumulated over 450 million streams. This newfound interest in the single inspired bôa to get back together and write. After nearly 20 years away, they can proudly share their first new single with the world.

An optimistic anthem about starting over, “Walk With Me” captures the excitement surrounding the band’s next chapter. Lyrically, it focuses on the beauty of a fresh relationship after a breakup. The guitar-based melodies and mellow lead-ins from the drums establish a calm atmosphere, a place that invites people to get to know one another a little better. Through Jasmine Rodgers’s magnetic vocals, we hear lines like, “Cute face, cute smile / You give me something else to think about” and “Sweet face, sweet smile / You give me something else to dream about,” making this a charming listen. You can check it out below.

About the creative process behind “Walk With Me,” bassist Alex Caird explains,

“There was a sort of dreamy sound to it. It started with a little guitar part. Usually, for us, if a riff is good from the start, everything will just slot together.”

You can listen to “Walk With Me” on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and SoundCloud.

In September, bôa will be heading out on tour in honor of “Walk With Me.” With support from Rocket and Sea Lemon, bôa will kick things off on September 11 in San Diego before making their way to venues in Portland, Toronto, and Boston. The last date of the tour will be on September 29 in Washington, D.C. You can find tickets and the full list of dates here.
