Indie-rock band Corella is nothing short of spectacular. They’ve already gained support from BBC Radio One and amassed over 447,000 monthly listeners in Spotify after they began releasing music as a band in 2016. The group met during their first year of university while bonding over music, and now they’re headlining sold-out shows. They’re unafraid to explore heavier themes within their music, but they’re also prepared to get a crowd jumping and singing along. This is no surprise to us here at Melodic Mag, as you can read our previous articles on Corella here. Their debut album Once Upon A Weekend is anticipated for release on May 3rd. The latest single off of Once Upon A Weekend is their lively new track, “Head Underwater.”
“Head Underwater” is an electrifying rock song. As it gets warmer outside, there’s a larger need for songs about completely letting loose and avoiding any regrets. This song gives us all of that and more. The grit and passion behind lead vocalist Joel Smith’s voice combined with the emotionally charged electric guitar from Jack Taylor makes for a wild ride of a track. The chorus has everything you need- it’s catchy, loud, harmonic, and it’s perfect to sing along to. Do us a favor and stream “Head Underwater” during your night out.
