Bellah Mae wonders who will be in her life in “2053” on new single

Date:

Last month, we entered Bellah Mae’s ‘Sad Girl Era’ with the release of “Compatible.” Tender and wistful, the vulnerable piano ballad brought out feelings of longing that occur when in a relationship that lacks a true spark. The track is the first single released from Bellah’s upcoming EP, Never Waste A Heartbreak, arriving June 7. Bellah used the help of her squad, The Hot Ex Girlfriends Club, to help shape the tracklist, so naturally, “Compatible” clicked with fans and got them excited for the rest of the tracks on the project. Bellah’s new single, for instance, is already picking up momentum through social media, where teasers have been highly circulating through The Hot Ex Girlfriends Club community.

A sweeping piano ballad, “2053” finds Bellah thinking about who will be in her life in the future. Ultimately, she considers if it was a mistake to let go of someone special, someone who was worth keeping. Thoughtfully, she sings, “So what if it’s 2053 / I still think of you and you still think of me / And I did everything that I said I was gon’ do / Will part of me regret I didn’t do it with you?” Naturally, as you grow and get older, you can’t help but think of the past and the decisions that were made. It is all too relatable to especially wonder where certain people are or how they would fit in your life if they were still around. You can check it out below.

About “2053,” Bellah shares,

“Everybody will always tell you, ‘It’ll be okay,’ and, ‘There’s plenty of fish in the sea,’ but sometimes, you wonder if there will always be a part of you that reflects on a particular person that’s no longer in your life anymore. As for writing the lyrics, I really wanted to tell a story of how strange it is for that person to not be aware of big changes or things happening within your life now.”

After the release of Never Waste A Heartbreak, Bellah will embark on tour in support of the new EP. These shows will include dates in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, and London. Tickets and more information can be found here.

You can listen to “2053” on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
