Just Super Shares Genre-Bending Track ‘When?’

Date:

Los Angeles-based producer, bass player, and songwriter Just Super is not your average musician. With a penchant for blending genres and a captivatingly frenzied alter ego, he’s on a mission to redefine what it means to create music. His latest track, “When?“, serves as a culmination of his eclectic influences and introspective lyricism.

Born out of the mind of Geo Botelho, a former Massachusetts truck driver turned tortured artist, Just Super’s musical journey is as unconventional as it gets. From his days playing bass in punk bands to his time at Berklee College of Music, where he cultivated a love for jazz amidst the chaos of pursuing a degree in Music Production & Engineering, Just Super’s path has been anything but ordinary.

His alter ego, Just Super, emerged as a vehicle for experimentation and self-expression, combining elements of indie, progressive R&B, pop, jazz, and emo to create what he aptly describes as “emo jazz”. With influences ranging from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers to Eric Nam, Just Super’s sound is a melting pot of diverse musical landscapes.

His new release, “When?”, stands as the final single off his debut record, ‘Not Much, but All I Think About’ and is a culmination of everything that makes Just Super’s music so compelling.

At its core, “When?” is a track that defies categorization. Blending indie sensibilities with jazz-infused melodies and choir-like harmonies, the track takes listeners on a whirlwind of emotions, evoking a sense of both melancholy and euphoria. And with its not-so-subtle reference to Lexapro medicine, the song delves even deeper into the complexities of mental health, offering a poignant reflection on the struggles of navigating the modern world.
