Uplifting and funky, Jersey native and Nashville resident, Georgia Owen playfully toys with an ex’s forgotten credit card in her latest single “Fur Coat”. Following Owen in her spending spree, she is now carefree and happy to let the one that got away stay away. Reaping the benefits of her new material company, the song embodies a fun and lighthearted post-breakup energy.
We begin with a 70s guitar riff, as Owen’s vocals come in. She details her new designer findings, alluding to these vintage pieces as “the one”. “Temporary fix for permanent things / Italian food and blow pop rings”, she sings in the pre chorus. The instrumental picks up as the chorus details the well deserved, heartbroken spending spree. The funky bass and percussion are emphasized here, aiding Owen’s smooth vocals.
“Fur Coat” forgoes the bridge and instead opts for breathy “Oohs” and “Ahs” that fade into the final reprise of the chorus. Owen tells us she feels good in her own skin, spending money that’s not hers. The song ends how it began with the same 70s guitar riff.
This release would be Georgia Owen’s first single since “Off With You” which came out in 2024. You can find the new single here and more about Georgia below!
