Oliver Tree, the eccentric and enigmatic artist, brought his unique blend of energy to MGM Music Hall in Boston to a very packed house. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as fans, adorned in Oliver Tree’s signature bowl-cut wigs and retro-inspired outfits, eagerly awaited the start of an unforgettable night.
As the stage lights dimmed, a surge of excitement rippled through the crowd. The unmistakable silhouette of Oliver Tree appeared on stage, instantly met with thunderous cheers. Oliver was sat on a giant pink couch with his back to the crowd explaining the show was “canceled”. But it was all part of a bit he was doing, much like what his entire show that night would be. He sat with a giant TV controller to mimic him changing the channel on the big screen in front of him to show case different skits he was in, as if it was a movie. The entire concert was set to be a movie, tv show, and Broadway musical all in one which was so unique.
Oliver performed the show in three separate acts, the show started with the album Alone In A Crowd (2023), then Cowboy TearsDrown the World in a Swimming Pool of Sorrow (2022), and lastly, Ugly is Beautiful (2020). His stage presence was nothing short of captivating. Dressed in his iconic jumpsuit and oversized sunglasses, he moved across the stage with a combination of swagger and vulnerability, engaging the audience in a way that felt deeply personal.
Oliver is such an captivating performer who brings his quirky high energy and fun stage presence to each show. Although a lot of the show is done as a “bit” it is still unique and keeps the audience guessing. It truly is a rollercoaster of a show and you never know what’s coming next, which makes it so much fun.
