Striking a Chord with Love: George Collins’ Musical Journey and “My Wish For You” single release.

Date:

Singer-songwriter George Collins is set to captivate audiences with his latest single, “My Wish For You,” which was released this past December.

This tender and heartfelt love song was specially written for Collins’ daughters, and coincides with his youngest daughter’s eighth birthday. Drawing inspiration from the sounds of George Harrison, Tom Petty, and the Traveling Wilburys, “My Wish For You” is sure to leave a lasting impression.

“I got a late start as a father – my first child, a girl, was born eleven years ago when I was 50 years old. At the time I was planning to transition out of my career in finance to be a full-time Dad and focus on creative pursuits. I had started writing my first novel, so I was always carrying a notebook and pen with me wherever I went to jot down ideas and images. But at that time, I had not written a song in twenty years.

It was a hot summer day in August 2012, and I was walking back home from the hospital after witnessing the birth of my daughter that morning. Needless to say, it was an emotionally overwhelming experience. Halfway home, with my head and heart swirling, I received a download, and the chorus for what eventually became “My Wish for You” arrived almost fully formed. I pulled out my notebook and jotted down the lines – I still have that paper to this day.”

What makes Collins’ musical journey truly extraordinary is his transition from a thriving financial career to pursuing his passion for music and creativity. It’s rare to witness someone leave behind a lucrative profession to embark on a music career, but that’s exactly what George Collins did.

Hailing from Washington DC and now based in Prague, Collins has embraced his calling as a musician and songwriter, forging a path that is uniquely his own.

Collins’ debut EP, “It’s Been a Long Time,” showcases his life experiences and a wide range of musical influences. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as The Beatles, XTC, Elvis Costello, Dire Straits, and Tom Petty, Collins demonstrates his skill as a lyricist and storyteller. The EP seamlessly blends insightful narratives with infectious pop hooks, resulting in a collection of songs that are both captivating and relatable.

What sets Collins’ music apart is his dedication to staying true to his authentic self and pursuing a life centered around creativity. His diverse background, including growing up in Washington D.C. during the tumultuous times of the Iranian Revolution, pursuing multiple degrees, and performing in various bands, has brought real depth and richness to his music. It’s impossible to miss the influence of his travels and encounters, which are evident in his distinctive and authentic sound.

With every musical endeavour, Collins continues to evolve as an artist, songwriter, and devoted parent. His music serves as a powerful reminder that pursuing one’s dreams can lead to a life filled with purpose and fulfilment.

The upcoming release of “My Wish For You” is a testament to Collins’ unwavering dedication to his craft and his heartfelt desire to share his music with the world.
