Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:
CANTERVICE – “Where Do We Stand?” The music becomes minimalistic in the first chorus to allow Matlock to ask “where do we stand?” before urging people to come together against the real enemy, not just against each other. The second verse picks up more heavy guitars and drums along with echoes in the vocals, underscoring the message.

Froogle – “Smoke Signals” Within seconds, Froogle’s “Smoke Signals” has me spinning from Queens of the Stone Age, to Tame Impala to Lenny Kravitz. The Houston producer first jumped onto the scene at his high school’s lunch tables, busting out “dirty south hip-hop beats” to his fellow fourteen year olds.

Julia McKay – “How Much Of You” It’s a soul-searching melody that delves into the sacrifices made in the name of sustaining a connection. McKay skillfully unravels these power imbalances, her lyrics resonating with an urgency that’s impossible to ignore.

Eighty Ninety – “Stay Alive” It seems like love is one of those concepts that is indefinable, unexplainable. It morphs, it evolves, it can push boundaries, surprise us, test us… There is no formula behind it, but there are plenty of lessons that we can take from its being. Over the years, indie pop duo Abner and Harper James of Eighty Ninety have attempted to analyze its ways, giving us thoughtful, beautiful songs in the process. The final result is their self-titled debut album, which demonstrates how love can leave us at our worst, place us at our best, and inspire us to work on ourselves and our relationships no matter what.
