Analog Dog is getting this Wednesday started with “In Love With A Fool,” the latest single off their upcoming album Color TV. The groovy tune has catchy melodies, all the best elements from 80’s synth, and notes of Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road. One listen should get you on your feet, and 2-3 listens will have you twirling around. Put this track on repeat at your own risk and watch out for those holiday decorations when you’re in full dance break mode.
The San Fransisco based band is Austin Waz (vocals, guitar, keys, synth), Rob Nicol (vocals, guitar), Jason Blasingame (keys, synth, sax), Celia Ford (bass, vocals), and Max Davis (drums). In detailing the song, the band describes “The poetic phrasing and imagery of the lyrics suggest a dreamlike atmosphere, where frames of mind blend in and out of each other, waking up at a full run only to find out that you were still dreaming all along. So, who is more foolish, the Fool or the Fool who follows him?” This concept is reminiscent of Glass Animals Dreamland.
The single follows “Jungle Queen“, “Paradise”, “All The Birds” and “what future?” – all 2023 releases. If these are what we’ve been given so far, we can’t wait to hear what they have planned for the rest of their album.
2024 will bring us Color TV, the band’s debut album which “invites its audience into a deeper listening experience, offering a journey that taps into something real while standing at the intersection of climate crisis and artificial intelligence.”
