Waterparks took London to church this Halloween

Date:

This Halloween American rock band Waterparks kicked off their long-awaited UK & EU tour at London’s iconic music venue The Roundhouse. The spooky theme was welcomed by both fans and artists alike, as the venue was filled with hundreds of creative costumes. Having caught Waterparks supporting You Me At Six earlier this year we couldn’t wait to see them rock their headline show.

Australian punk-pop band Stand Atlantic opened the show and certainly got the crowd warmed up ahead of the headliners. Making a grand entrance to “I’m Just Ken” while wearing Barbie-themed costumes, with lead singer Bonnie Fraser going for a more unique Einstein look. Their setlist was jammed-packed with bangers including “hair out”, “bloodclot” and “deathwish”. They even treated the fans to a special performance of the unreleased track “Sex on the Beach”, which is due to be released on the 10th of November.

Opening with “ST*RFUCKER” the band emerged from the darkness into rainbow lighting, dressed in their epic costumes. Frontman Awsten Knight as a pope, lead guitarist Geoff Wigington as a priest and drummer Otto Wood kept in theme dressed as a nun.

The pyro and CO2 brought all the energy as they sang their second song “Numb” before diving into a mixture of older tracks from their latest album INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. Their fans screamed along to each song, including their hit “BRAINWASHED”, where Awsten let the audience sing along into the mic whilst wrapping an arm around Geoff and enjoying the raw energy of the show.

After “2 BEST FRIENDS” Awsten FaceTimed his mum, saying it was tradition to do so whenever they played London shows and the whole crowd cheered. After warning the audience not to cuss whilst on the call, he told his mum “I’ve gotta go and sing “‘FUCK ABOUT IT’” and hung up on her, causing the fans to laugh and cheer.

Keeping to the British spirit, they covered Oasis’ iconic “Wonderwall” but had to ask the crowd for the chords! Luckily, they chanted it and the band managed to follow along.

Ending with their 3 song encore, the fans screamed for more and Waterparks delivered. “REAL SUPER DARK” had frontman Awsten encouraging the crowd to form two huge mosh pits on either side and go absolutely crazy when the chorus hit. The energy continued for the last two songs “Turbulent” and “FUNERAL GREY”. We already can’t wait for the trio to make a return to London for their next show.
