We The Kings Harness Early 2000s Sound on their Latest Single, “Alien”

Date:

We The Kings have harnessed their early 2000s sound, blending nostalgic warm vocals and captivating riffs with a modern touch on their latest single, “Alien.” This track marks their first release since signing with Graveboy Records, which is under the ownership and operation of Emo Nite founders T.J. Petracca and Morgan Freed.

“Alien” was produced by the band’s own Travis Clark and explores the theme of finding one’s place in the world and a sense of belonging. In light of recent reports and stories about alien sightings, Clark found it to be the perfect analogy to express his feelings of not quite fitting in.

This feeling of not fitting in has been with Clark throughout his life, whether it was in sports, academics, or even within the pop punk scene. Despite initially feeling isolated, they eventually found their own community of misfits when they formed the band, only to be further categorized as unique within their own league.

“We’re all just a bunch of kids who feel like aliens searching for the answer to the question – ‘does anybody else feel like I do’” shares Clark. “Every few albums or so I get a strong feeling about a song. It’s hard to explain, but the last 2 times I felt this way were with “Check Yes Juliet” and “Sad Song”. I have that same feeling about “Alien” so only time will tell what that means!”
