Julia Bhatt releases original track “For the World” from upcoming EP

Date:

Last month, Julia Bhatt gave us a glimpse of her upcoming EP Grab Bag with the release of its lead single, “Charmander.” The single was a mellowed-out cover of the 2021 track by Animé, catering more towards Julia’s singer-songwriter ways. It took her back to the beginning of her career when she would do hundreds of covers or “grab bags” on Instagram. As an ode to that time, Julia decided to make an EP that had a mix of covers and originals. For the project’s second single, Julia is giving us an original with “For the World.”

Contrary to the “fuck off” attitude we heard on “Charmander,” “For the World” contains a more inviting demeanor. With the slower tempo, steady hi-hat, and ambient guitar, “For the World” falls in the ballad realm, tied together by Julia’s bittersweet vocals. Its relaxed sound allows us to daydream with her as she sings, “Hoping and dreaming and praying and wishing / For some kind of world / Working and waiting and falling and breaking / Your back for the world.” Basically, Julia lets out a long sigh with this track, observing the way the world is and the way the world could be. You can check it out below.

Giving us details about the inspiration behind “For the World,” Julia shares,

“Life is difficult for everyone in so many ways. We have to give so much of ourselves over to people and work, sometimes it feels like we’ve run out of things to give. At least, that’s how it feels sometimes for me.”

Available November 17, Grab Bag will contain two original tracks and two covers. Elaborating on both the originals and covers, Julia explains,

“As soon as they were written, I recorded them immediately so I wouldn’t change them too much. The covers are also songs that I couldn’t get out of my head until I played them. They all represent where I’m at right now – a little lost, a little sad, but still going. They make me happy when I listen to them.”

You can listen to “For the World” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
