After going viral on TikTok last year with her original song “Anybody,” indie pop artist BIZZY has achieved notable success. She “knows no strangers,” as the press has claimed, with tracks like “Just Yet,” My Age,” and “Out Loud” resonating with listeners all around the world. With continuous features on Spotify’s editorial playlists, that connection keeps getting stronger, locking in fans that will be there with BIZZY as she checks off more milestones like releasing her debut album or going on her first headline tour. Recently, she crossed “signed to Big Loud Rock” off her list, joining artists like HARDY, Blame My Youth, and Yam Haus. Dropping her first single with the label, BIZZY gives us “I Don’t Get Breakups.”
It can be hard to find where you stand after a breakup, wondering how often you should contact the ex or if you should even be thinking about the ex at all. To represent those out there who don’t know what to do, we have BIZZY’s new single “I Don’t Get Breakups.” She lets others know that they’re not the only ones in this weird gray area that straddles lovers and strangers, singing, “Act tough but I gave up fighting the tears / Up all last night just wishing you were here / How’d it get so weird?” She also reveals, “But I swear if I see you out with a girl / Hand around her waist, I’m gonna hurl” before hysterically squealing, “‘Cause I was your girl!” The rock-infused interjections of electric guitar that are scattered throughout the track throw off the playfulness of these lyrics, capturing the anxiety BIZZY feels underneath the surface. You can check it out below.
Telling us more about “I Don’t Get Breakups,” BIZZY explains,
“I was reflecting on a relationship that had ended prior to writing the song, and it dawned on me how bizarre breakups really are. How can we go from loving someone with all our hearts (like it physically hurts how bad you love them), and then over time fall out of love with them? One day they’re your person and your whole world revolves around them…then all of a sudden, something happens and we’re strangers living on the same planet.”
Tomorrow, BIZZY starts her debut US tour as direct support for FRENSHIP. With 15 stops in cities like Nashville, Houston, New York, and Chicago, the ‘Base Camp Tour’ is a perfect opportunity to party with FRENSHIP and connect with BIZZY on a deeper level. As BIZZY has previously mentioned, “There is nothing like connecting with people through live music.” You can grab tickets here.
You can listen to “I Don’t Get Breakups” on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
