Gabi Sklar begins to heal on “Thank God”

Date:

Social media can really make or break anyone these days. We are all just one post or comment away from being canceled… But in Gabi Sklar’s case, social media worked in her favor. The rising pop singer-songwriter started posting covers to TikTok last year. Eight months in, she gained 2.5 million followers and over 40 million likes. She now has 3.5 million TikTok followers and 1.1 million followers on Instagram. Even though her followers went crazy for her covers, they were also able to connect with her originals, such as “Good Kisser,” “Monster Truck,” and “Pardon My French,” which came out earlier this year. Gabi has hit the ground running, but she still has much ground to cover, so she is moving right along with her new single “Thank God.”

On “Thank God,” Gabi begins to heal. Throughout the track, she looks back on a toxic relationship, recounting the ways it broke her down. She sings, “You took my sunshine, turned it into rain / Stealing the joy out of everything / Doing it over and over again / I’ll never be the same.” While she proceeds with caution, there is a fervor in her voice that indicates a desire to start a new chapter. The acoustic rhythms and melodies also add some flair to the track, making it an emotional pop ballad. You can check it out below.

Telling us more about “Thank God,” Gabi shares,

“‘Thank God’ is that first breath of fresh air after coming out of a toxic relationship. It’s not only about coming to terms with that destructive period in your life ending, but it’s also about beginning the process of healing your relationship with yourself.”

You can listen to “Thank God” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
