Switchfoot and Ingrid Andress Have Joined Forces on New Version of Switchfoot’s 2003 hit “On Fire.”

Date:

Renowned GRAMMY award winning rock group, Switchfoot, has joined forces with the acclaimed GRAMMY nominee and singer/songwriter Ingrid Andress to unveil a fresh interpretation of Switchfoot’s 2003 hit “On Fire.”

This new rendition will be a part of The Beautiful Letdown (Our Version) [Deluxe Edition], a recently announced collection of 25 tracks celebrating the breakthrough album of 2003, The Beautiful Letdown. This special edition features new recordings by various artists including The Jonas Brothers, Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), Jon Bellion, Dayglow, Tyler Joseph (Twenty One Pilots), and more.

Listen to “On Fire. (Ingrid Andress Version)” on your favorite streaming platform.

Andress, a shining star in the world of contemporary country music, along with her long-standing co-producer and collaborator Sam Ellis, has given “On Fire” a new, almost inspirational, twist that diverges from Switchfoot’s original, which was more focused on love and longing. Over a steady rhythmic backdrop accompanied by acoustic guitar and a subtly plucked banjo, Andress passionately sings: “And I’m on fire when you’re near me / And I’m on fire when you speak / Yeah, I’m on fire burning at these mysteries.”

Jon Foreman of Switchfoot commented on the track, stating, “Ingrid has a voice that transcends genre. I first heard it on the stereo in a coffee shop in Charleston. Perfect for an afternoon at home, or a long late night drive- Ingrid has is a rare combination of beauty and depth. It’s the voice that accompanies a soul that has lived more than just a charmed life. I believe her when she’s singing. One day, one of Ingrid’s tunes came up on the playlist and we found out that a friend of ours was on tour with Ingrid. So we decided to reach out. A few days later when we were chatting on the phone- she joked that she nearly fell off the bed when she first got the invite. We feel the same way! So thankful to have Ingrid’s voice on this track!”

Ingrid Andress added: “I am so honored and excited to be a part of this The Beautiful Letdown anniversary celebration album. I used to sing “On Fire” all the time as a teenager and always thought it was so beautiful, so the fact that Jon asked me to join him and the band on this record is beyond special to me.”

The release of “On Fire (Ingrid Andress Version)” follows the introduction of the lead single “Meant To Live (Jon Bellion Version),” a bold reimagining of Switchfoot’s hard-hitting 2003 hit. Accompanied by a poignant video that dissects the complex relationship between father and son, Jon Bellion’s rendition swaps the original’s powerful guitar riffs for a lush string arrangement by the esteemed John Metcalfe (known for his work with Coldplay, Blur, Peter Gabriel).

On top of the Deluxe Edition of The Beautiful Letdown, Switchfoot is set to embark on an extensive North American tour, spanning over 30 dates starting at the end of the summer. The tour will see the band performing The Beautiful Letdown album in its entirety, from start to finish, in major cities such as Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles, and more. Numerous shows on the tour are already sold out or have limited ticket availability, including notable venues like The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, House of Blues in Chicago, IL, and The Bluestone in Columbus, OH.
